I purchased these very early on in my pregnancy and thoroughly enjoyed them for the first 6 or 7 months of the pregnancy. The denim is nice and stretchy and the cut is very flattering. Because they have a stretchy 'tummy trimmer' portion attached above the jeans waistband the length of the jeans is somewhat adjustable, making them even easier for a short person like me to wear. No hemming required! A taller person would just not hike them up as much as I did. They wash up very nicely and stand up to multiple washings and drying quite well.
Unfortunately there's a pretty big negative to these jeans if you want to wear them as maternity jeans. The elastic top of the 'tummy trimmer' portion seriously cuts into your pregnant belly when it starts getting bigger. I wasn't even the biggest pregnant person, I only gained 30lbs total and nobody could even tell I was pregnant until I was like 8 months along. So for those that get bigger bellies earlier on, the elastic would start to cut in pretty quick. An easy fix would be to switch the thin elastic edge out for a wide flat band of elastic. If the elastic in the 'tummy trimmer' section was revamped I would consider buying another pair of these. However, as it is I would not buy another pair because honestly they became quite uncomfortable! That being said they did always look cute, no matter how unbearable that elastic became.
Verdict: A good option for early in pregnancy. Go ahead and pick up a pair next time you see them offered but be aware that they are not an 'entire pregnancy' pant.
Do you have a pair of Lilac jeans? How is the fit for you? Is anyone else experiencing that elastic that hurts the preggo belly? Any questions for me?
